What is Talc?

What is Soapstone Powder?

There is a naturally occurring magnesium-rich mineral called soapstone powder. H2Mg3(SiO3)4, which is hydrated magnesium silicate, is also known as talc or steatite.

Minerals such as this form under the earth’s surface when tectonic plates are subducted. Even though soapstone is particularly dense, it is easy to carve.

As a result, quartzite tools are used to quarry it from an outcrop. The white, grey, or pale green mineral is crushed to form lumps and powders.
